Full Statement:
Disciples Peace Fellowship laments and is infuriated by today’s events in Washington, DC, where white nationalist extremists stormed and occupied the U.S. Capitol, and elsewhere in state capitols where similarly-minded events have occurred.
Today’s events are the culmination of centuries of militaristic, patriarchal, colonialist, and white supremacist rhetoric and actions against communities seeking justice and liberation for all.
As people of faith seeking to achieve a world in which the Gospel imperative for peace and justice is upheld, DPF stands with those who condemn today’s actions and are eager to work toward a world in which collective wellbeing is valued above individual power.
We commit to furthering conversations and taking action to dismantle these oppressive paradigms and uphold reparative, transformative relationships until liberation, peace, and justice for all are achieved.
