Presenting the 2023 DPF Peace Interns

Kaylie Allen (she/her)

Kaylie is an alum of Bethany College and current second year law student at Indiana University McKinney School of Law. She lives in downtown Indianapolis now, but was born and raised in West Virginia.

Kaylie has a bachelors degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice and has one year left in her Juris Doctor program. The focus of Kaylie’s studies is healthcare law, and she has recently interned with the Indiana Rural Health Association.

Kaylie describes her life’s calling like this, “I am on a journey of bringing peace and justice to those who need it. My desire to do this work is absolutely rooted in my Christian faith, as I have learned through my own faith journey to be kind, loving, understanding, and just.”

Grace Dearhamer (she/her)

Grace is a junior at Eureka College double majoring in Philosophy/Religion and Psychology/Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice.

She is in her second year serving as a Youth Ministry Intern at Eureka Christian Church and is also a barista at a local coffee shop where she drinks at least one oat milk latte a day.

Growing up in the Oklahoma, Grace learned about DPF while serving on the OK Region’s Youth Ministry Council. In thinking about her Peace Intern summer Grace writes, “A core value of my ministry is encouraging youth and young adults to reflect on and advocate for peace and justice as central to their expression of the Christian faith. I am excited for the opportunity to further explore my call to ministry as a DPF intern.”

Marci Mazza-Fredley (she/her)

Marci is a Junior Honors student at Bethany College majoring in Political Science with a minor in Religious Studies. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA Marci serves as the Pennsylvania Region’s Youth Ministries Intern for Camp Laurelview. She is also a third year HELM Fellow.

At school Marci is on the Women's Lacrosse team as well as the Equestrian team. She hopes to integrate social justice and religious studies into a graduate degree after Bethany, and dreams of one day working for the Poor People's Campaign.

In her application Marci described her passion for peace and justice like this, “My commitment to peacemaking expands into every setting I am in; including the conversations I have on my college campus, in the messages in my sermons when I guest preach, and in protests and activist-based settings.”
